OBITUARY FOR AL BIEBER
DOB 4-14-1936 - DOD 4-28-2023
He was born in Bowdle, South Dakota, in a farming area and entered the Marine Corp 9-19-1958. He used his GI bill at the age of 29 to become a pilot and flight instructor and purchased planes to instruct other pilots. His first love was a Citabria, in which he taught aerobatics. He recently owned an RV7 and a 1979 Grumman Tiger. His second love was golf. At one time, he was a one handicap and made clubs for others as a hobby. When he retired from the Federal Aviation Administration, he had 25 years of public service. For over 18 years he was the Principal Supervisory Operations Inspector overseeing America West Airlines’ compliance and safety. After he retired, he made several trips for ICAO to Finland, Viet Nam, and Scotland. He also tested and issued Certified Flight Instructor certificates for the FAA. He was owner- contractor of two homes: one in Fountain Hills and in the village, without any prior building experience.
When he instructed at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City, a fellow instructor, Mike Cantley, said he was a consummate speaker in his presentation and instruction: a true gentleman talented in many areas.
He is survived by his wife, Bette of 64 plus years, his sons: Allen and Guy and his daughter, Annette. His siblings are Chuck Manning, Donna Robertson, Novell Dewald, Perry Bieber and LaMae Ulrich.
