Anita Smith, of Sedona, died January 11, 2010 at Verde Valley Medical Center in Cottonwood at the age of 84.
She was born on September 21, 1925 in Louisville, Kentucky.
She grew up in Indianapolis and attended college there. At the onset of WWII, she worked in Detroit in a war plant. She later came to Arizona and worked as a secretary.
She returned to Indianapolis in 1951, married and gave birth to her daughter. Her husband passed away in 1955. She met Doyle that same year and married in Indianapolis in 1960.
They moved to Connecticut in 1969, then to Virginia in 1975. They came to Sedona in 1987 and Anita worked as a real estate broker.
Anita is survived by her husband Doyle of Sedona; daughter Nora Stewart of Sierra Madre, California; step-son Doyle Shawn Smith of Austin, Texas; brother Morley Read of N. Augusta, South Carolina; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her step-son Doyle, Jr.
