Anthony Lee Westcott

August 10, 1947 — November 3, 2013

Anthony Lee Westcott, born August 10th, 1947, died November 3rd at Banner Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix after a devastating automobile accident in Prescott on October 30th, 2013 where his longtime friend David Crawford was also killed.

Mr. Westcott was a third generation resident of the Verde Valley and was a graduate of Mingus Union High School in Jerome. Like his father Howard, he was a funeral director for many years at Westcott Funeral Home in Old Town Cottonwood and later owner and director of Sedona Funeral Home in Sedona. For over 20 years he cared for thousands of bereaving people that had lost a loved one in the Verde Valley and Sedona. He was known for his extraordinary compassion and skill in the restorative arts and was recognized by many members of the profession as one of the most talented embalmers in the country. His ability to provide family members with a peaceful final memory of their loved one was unmatched.

He loved creating unique works of art using objects such as wood, scrap metal, avocado pits and even snake skin. He felt most at peace under the moonlight with a fishing pole in his hand.

He is survived by his sons Erick (Karra), Sean (Amanda) and Cody and daughter Charla. Brothers Mike (Roberta) and Pat (Debbie) and Sister Vicki (Jerry) and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Diane and is also survived by many nieces, nephews and many other family and friends. Reverend Edmund Reyes will be officiating a graveside service at 11am on Thursday November 7th, at Valley View Cemetery in Clarkdale. Arrangements are being handled by Greers Mortuary of Sedona.
