Carl James Hunt was born on April 10, 1942 in Jamaica, Queens, New York to James Hunt and Evelyn Johansen. His young childhood was spent on a chicken farm in Massachusetts until the family relocated back to New York in Valley Stream, and later settling in Wantagh. Carl attended Wantagh High School, class of 1960, then enlisted in the United States Air Force where he became a member of the elite Special Forces division. He served with distinction in Korea, Japan, and was a Vietnam Veteran. Carl returned to Long Island, New York after his service where he raced motorcycles and cars, and owned Zodiac Cycles. He married Virginia (Ginger) Amantia and welcomed daughter June in 1969. Carl was a gifted mechanic by trade, becoming Service Manager of Sportique Motors in Huntington, New York, and later Production Manager at Thermex Thermatron and Euclid Equipment Corp. On April 11, 1981, Carl Hunt married Maria (Stans) Brown, the greatest love of his life and best friend of over 40 years, merging two families into one becoming more than a step-father to Marias daughter Lisa, and son Michael. Two years later, Carl and Maria welcomed their son Jedediah (Jed) in Huntington, New York. In October 1993, Carl, Maria and Jed fulfilled a life-long dream when they moved to the Village of Oak Creek in Sedona, Arizona. Carl worked at Big A Auto Parts while running an auto repair business from his home. In 1997, Carl and Maria welcomed granddaughter Darlise Dogan into their home as their daughter. Carl spent the remainder of his career repairing and maintaining the fleet at Pink Jeep Tours in Sedona as the Parts Manager until his retirement in 2012. When not at work, Carl could be found camping in the Arizona wilderness, riding one of his two side car motorcycles around Sedona, or in his garage surrounded by engine projects in various states of repair reading books on Native American and Arizona history. In addition to the many peoples lives that he touched, Carl is survived by his wife, children June, Michael and Jed, sister Dolores Schaefer (CT), and grandchildren Darlise Dogan, Tyler and Zachary Margolin, and Olivia, Leanna, and Juliet Brown.
