David Lee Henrickson

July 13, 1937 — March 15, 2020

David Lee Henrickson was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 13, 1937 to the late Ralph and Helen Henrickson. He grew up in the Valley of the Sun and graduated from West High School in Phoenix, AZ in 1955.
Dave attended General Motors Institute in Flint Michigan for two years and then transferred to ASU. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Arizona State University on May 26, 1959, and on February 15, 1971, Dave earned his Master of Business Administration from ASU. He was a life-long Sun Devil.
After a stint in the Air Force Reserves, he worked at Sun Valley Pools as their chief engineer until 1965 when he joined Motorola in the Semi-Conductor Group. Over Dave’s 31 years at Motorola, he earned two patents in the scientific and technical fields and was often recognized for his work and dedication. He spent the later part of his career working for Motorola University. In 1993 he was offered the position of Director and began the challenge to create Motorola University in greater China. He and his wife, Rosemary, moved to Beijing, China where he, in fact, successfully established Motorola University in Greater China. David retired early after returning from China and was dubbed ’Friend – Pioneer– Educator’ at his retirement party. He continued to consult for Motorola as well as other companies in retirement. In 2003, Dave got his Arizona Real Estate License and worked with his wife for several years at Coldwell Banker First Affiliate in Sedona, Arizona.
David married Rosemary Manikas on October 27, 1978, and they raised their family in Scottsdale, Arizona until he and Rosemary moved to China in 1993. Dave and his family spent many, many weekends camping and boating from Lake Powell to the White Mountains to the beaches of Rocky Point. Dave enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, traveling, watching CNBC, and spending time with family and friends. After Dave’s retirement, he and Rosemary returned to the States and built their dream home in Oak Creek Canyon AZ. For the last six years, David struggled brilliantly with Parkinson’s and never complained.
Dave passed away on March 15, 2020 holding tightly to his wife’s hand.
His parents Helen and Ralph Henrickson and a son, Jeffrey, preceded him in death. Dave is survived by his wife of 42 years, Rosemary Henrickson; children Thomas Kruse of Arizona City, AZ; Amy (Matt) Faull of Flagstaff, AZ; James (Kerry) Kruse of Los Angeles, CA; and Melissa (Brad) Holderman of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Karen (Phil) Benner of Fresno, CA; cousin, Luke Bartojay, of Conifer, CO, many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins; grandchildren Henry Faull, Maximilian Faull, George Lee Faull, Josephine Faull, Kya Kruse, and Jacob Holderman; and last but certainly not least, his much loved great granddaughter, Elizabeth Rosemary Faull.
