Dennis Clinton Elliott

April 27, 1925 " March 2, 2018

Dennis Clinton Elliott, 92, of Sedona, Arizona, died peacefully on Friday, March 2, 2018 at his home. He was loved deeply as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a true gentleman, of great integrity, and warmth with everyone he met. His love for Sally, his wife of 67 years, was recognized by everyone, and is something all his children and grandchildren aspire to.

As he was known to all, Denny spent his early years in the small town of Orleans, Indiana with his parents C.D. and Florence, and his brother Ron. In 1943, Denny enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served as a Navy pilot during World War II, and after. Denny graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Air Transportation.

Denny joined the 3M Company, where he spent his entire 38-year career, retiring in 1990 in International operations. After eleven moves with 3M, Denny and Sally relocated to Sedona, where they established many friends through golf, church, volunteering, and a greyhound organization. He traveled to six continents and countless countries, always appreciating the local culture rather than being a tourist. Spirit and Keely, his two greyhounds, were among his greatest joys.

The pride of his life, however, was his family. He was proud of his daughters, Meg and Gwen, and the lives they created with their families with six granddaughters and one great-granddaughter. He loved them all so very much, always making time to listen and guide.

Denny will be deeply missed by Sally; Meg (Dan), Emily, Melissa, and Jessica Rift; Gwen (Mike), Amy, Andrea (Luke), and Ellie Hagen; and great-granddaughter, Piper; and all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 17, 10:00 am at Church of the Red Rocks, 54 Bowstring Drive, Sedona, AZ 86336. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Greyhounds of the Verde Valley (greyhoundsverdevalley.org) or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (cff.org).
