ELBERT W. GARRISON, known to his friends as Bert, died on October 26, 2014.
He was born to Clara and Roland Garrison of Dover, Delaware on November 22, 1919.
As a youth he was involved in Scouting, rose to the rank of Eagle Scout, then Quartermaster in the Sea Scouts. After he and his wife, Gene, moved to Phoenix he became a Scoutmaster.
After almost 25 years in the expanding metropolis they moved to Cave Creek, where they lived for 27 years. In 1999 they moved to a place they stumbled upon in 1948, and returned to time after time " Sedona.
Garrison retired from Sperry Flight Systems and became involved in model trains, first with the Black Mountain Model Train Club in Cave Creek, then the Sedona Railroaders. He is also a Life Member of the Arizona Model Railroading Society, Inc.
He was also a sculptor, having studied at Phoenix College. His media were mostly alabaster and wood. He was a member of the Sedona Arts Center, and also held membership in the Society of Layerists in Multi-Media and the Sedona Camera Club.
People remember him as kind, caring, helpful and loving.
Gene, his wife of 70 years; two sons, Robert and David; brother George: sister Mary Garrison Wilson; former daughter-in-law Gail; grandson Daniel; sister-in-law Elizabeth Kirby, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, survive him.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 10 A.M. November 8 at Greers Mortuary of Sedona, 2725 West 89A, Sedona, Arizona.
