Florence Lorene Gibson died Sunday, February 7, 2010 in Sedona, Arizona.

Born in Kansas, she was the daughter of a coal miner. She graduated from high school in McCune, Kansas. She attended and graduated from Mt. Carmel Nursing School in Pittsburgh, Kansas; practicing as an RN from time to time for a few years.

She married Walter "Bud" Gibson in 1936 in Kansas and lived on the Navajo Nation at the Mexican Water Trading Post for many years and raised her family in Farmington, New Mexico. She was a homemaker until her husband's death in 1996. She then lived in retirement communities in Scottsdale and Sedona.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter and her son Robert Gibson.

She is survived by sons Michael Gibson of Flagstaff, Arizona and Douglas Gibson of Mililani, Hawaii; sisters Cathren Harris of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Betty Doak of Farmington, New Mexico; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Farmington, New Mexico on Friday, February 12, 2010 at 2PM.

Memorial contributions may be directed to a Haiti Relief Fund.
