Frederick William Ziegler

February 27, 1931 — November 29, 2015

Today we lost a wonderful dad, grandpa and great grandpa.
On 29 November 2015 Fred W Zeigler, also known as Ziggy or Zig, passed away. He died of an amazing case of wearing his body out from living life to the fullest.
He was born on February 27, 1931 to Ethel and Daryl Zeigler in Nebraska. He had three older brothers who helped him get into, and out of, trouble. His Mom was a very good painter who sold many beautiful paintings. His das was a farmer who loved working with his hands. In 1936 the family moved to Kuna Idaho where his dad worked as a ditch rider.
In 1949 Zig graduated from Kuna High School. His first job after high school was working for a copper mine in Nevada. When he lost his sense of taste and smell he decided to find another line of work. That is when he started working on dams. He worked on dams in Idaho and Washington until 1959. He needed a change of pace so he moved to Alaska and helped build a missile silo in 9 months! After the silo he decided to move back to Kuna and started to work For Idaho Power. He worked at Idaho Power for 31 years as a foreman and engineer on many projects around Idaho, Wyoming and Nevada. He loved his job and his travels. In 1962 he met his first true love, Dorothy. He was eating in a restaurant and she was waitressing. It was love at first bite! They married later that year and bought a home in Meridian.
In 1966 he was able to meet his daughter and granddaughter at the same time. Dorothy had a child from a previous marriage. When Zig heard that his new daughter had a baby, he had to be a part of their lives, and an amazing part he was. He was later blessed with a perfect grandson whom he has the pleasure of carrying out of the hospital. Through the rest of the years Zig and Dorothy would go and visit their family and would be the best grandfather anyone could have.
In 1982 his love died of cancer. He was without his wife, but not alone. He would have his family to keep him company. In 1991 he retired from Idaho Power and decided to sell the house and live in his motorhome and travel. He would go to Arizona in the winter and come back to Idaho in the summer.
In 1992 he met his next love and traveling companion Marie. They loved to travel and do everything together. Theyd go to many different states on adventures. Unfortunately, that wouldnt last, as Marie died of cancer in 1994.
In 1997 he decided to buy some property in Yuma Arizona for his motorhome. He also put out an ad for a traveling companion. Thats how love #3 came around. Marilyn would travel with him and they would discover new territories together. In 2009 they were slowing down so he bought them a permanent residence in Cottonwood Arizona. They lived in Cottonwood until the end. Marilyn passed away in June of 2015 and Zig decided he accomplished enough in this world so that he could move on. He was in The Hillman House for the last bit of time and they took amazing care of him and loved him as much as we did.
He is survived by his daughter, Louise, two grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and also 2 great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Brothers Daryl, Truman and Bob. He is also preceded in death by his loves Dorothy, Marie, and Marilyn. He will be missed terribly but never forgotten. He will still bring a smile to the face of the people who knew and loved him.
