Fredrick Leroy Tietsort

He was born on January 16, 1937 formally of Unionville, Missouri. He was born in Lucerne, Missouri to Lorenzo Lee and Glen Etta Tietsort. He was united in marriage to Nancy Carroll Lewis on October 19, 1958. Fredrick passed away on January 25, 2014 at Page Springs Living home, Page Springs, Arizona.

Survivors are his wife Nancy, their son John F. Tietsort and his wife Susan R. Tietsort and Grandson Daniel J. Kunkle all of Sedona, Arizona. A Brother, Lanny O. Tietsort and his wife Shirley J. Tietsort and a niece, Debra Tietsort and her son Brandon Tietsort and wife Kelley, nephew Bradley Tietsort all of Belton, Missouri. David M. Lewis and his wife Tiena Lewis, nephews David D. Lewis, Gregory and his wife Amanda and daughter Khloe Lewis all of Seymour, Iowa.

Leroy was preceded in death by his brother-In "law John David Lewis, his parents, his Grandparents, on both sides, nephew Randall L. Tietsort, his uncle Larry Tietsort, In-Laws John D. and Margaret Lewis and sister-in-law Sandra Wright.

Leroy attended the Unionville, Missouri schools and graduated with the Class of 1955. He then attended The University of Missouri and then decided he would rather fly for the United States Air Force. He put in for the Air Force Cadet Flying School. He was accepted in 1957 and Graduated in 1958, as a 2nd LT.

After graduation, he went home to marry Nancy C. Lewis of Centerville, Iowa, Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Lewis. They were married on October 19, 1958, at the Methodist Church in Unionville, Missouri and had celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary on October 19th 2013.

Leroys 1st assignment was Randolph Air Force Base, in San Antonio, Texas, for KC-97 School. He was then assigned to KC-135 Combat Crew Training at Castle Air Force Base, California. Then it was off to Squadron Officers School, Maxwell Air Base, Alabama where he was assigned to Counterinsurgency Indoctrination school. He was then sent to Larson Air Force base, in Washington State. While there, he made many trips to Alaska. Nancy would watch him take off from her kitchen window.

After waiting and hoping for a child, Lee and Nancy were home on leave when John Fredrick Tietsort was born in Centerville, Iowa at ST. Joseph Mercy Hospital on March 22, 1963. Everyone was very thrilled. After another week or so, they flew home with Baby John in tow, he slept all the way home and they were one happy family.

Leroy was then sent to March Air Force Base, California. He made many trips to Viet Nam and decided he had enough and put in his paper work, so he could get out. One more time they sent him to Viet Nam. His paper work came through and the Air Force sent him home to Castle Air Force Base, where Nancy and John met him as a civilian. So he retired from the Air Force Officially in 1967 as a KC-135 Captain.

In 1967 Leroy joined United Airlines. He was based out of Los Angles and later Chicago. Leroy flew B-720, B-727, DC-10, B-737 and retired as a Boeing 767 Captain in 1994.

He was a very busy man, while still flying, owned and operated a hardware store and a tax business. After retirement he helped start 911 in Unionville, with the help of Barbara Swiger, who became the 911 administrator. 911 was just what Unionville needed.

Now Leroy is with his heavenly Father, where there is no sorrow, pain or suffering. He will be greatly missed by Nancy, family, friends and neighbors. May God bless each and every one of you, thats what Leroy would want for you.
