George 'Howard' Sage

G. "Howard" Sage, 87, of Cottonwood, Arizona, passed away on March 15, 2009 in Cottonwood.

Mr. Sage was born on December 9, 1921 in Amoret, Missouri. He was in the Civilian Conservation Corps, then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in World War II. Following the war, he met and married his first wife, Thelma; their marriage ended in divorce. In 1949, he met Mildred Heckman. They were married December 2, 1951. They made their home in Kansas City, where he worked at a bakery. They moved to Arizona in 1960 and he worked for GSA as an electrician. He retired in 1983 and they moved to Cornville, then Clarkdale and finally, Cottonwood.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred J. Sage of Cottonwood; daughters Beverly A. Strange of Kansas City, Missouri; Connie Harris of Scottsdale; Carol Stockton of Belleview, Washington; Mary Stoney of Anchorage, Alaska; son Jerry Sage of Lake Montezuma; sisters Edna Stephens of Lone Jack, Missouri; Jeanette Trotter of Independence, Missouri; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Wayne Sage, in 1986.

Memorial services were held at 11:00AM, Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Greer's Mortuary of Sedona, 2725 W. Highway 89A in Sedona.
