THE FORCE IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE....

"I'm going to take you higher..."

These were some of the last words that Giacomo spoke to his mother and other loved ones who surrounded him in the hours before he transitioned from this world on January 25, 2025...

What did he mean by that?? Well, one could interpret these words in many ways...

A first idea...G chose a red-tailed hawk as his spirit animal, and maybe he was acknowledging that when we see that incredible bird perching or soaring high above, we will be reminded of him and his personal motto, "Stay Fierce!"

Perhaps he was thinking of the day that he and all those he cherishes are back together, all the way up in the 5th Dimension, where he planned to head off to after his time here on earth was complete...

Or, perhaps his proclamation was the first of many words of wisdom that he will share as the divine messenger that the red-tailed hawk is known to be... And that when we see him, we will know that he is offering his guidance and intuition from all the way up in those higher realms, with those of us still in the physical world, taking us to a higher level of consciousness and awareness that is so vital for humanity, now and for all eternity...

Or, in Star Wars-speak, it's perhaps his expression of the fact that he was about to become "The Force," an homage to something he loved just about as much as his family...

"The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It’s an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together.”

Interpret as you wish, but know that if you were lucky enough to know him, by any means, wherever he is now, Giacomo will be taking you "higher" as well.

Before he even came earthside, Giacomo was teaching his mom the most valuable lesson in parenting--patience. After a bit of a tumultuous pregnancy and birth, G started his life on his own terms, in his own way, and he was a fighter from the very first inhale. This tenacity and unique spark would continue all throughout his life, right up until the moment he took his very final exhale, with her by his side.

G was an exuberant baby, child, and young man, welcoming every new experience (and sibling) with pure delight, curiosity, and joy. He was an avid domestic and world traveler, getting the first stamps on his passport at the ripe young age of 1, ultimately collecting 13 of them in his 20 years, along with visiting 38 of the 50 US states. G holds the reining title of "Puzzle Master," "Monopoly Wizard," and "Superfan" in the categories of Star Wars, LEGO, Friends, Harry Potter, history, crime stories, unsolved mysteries, the paranormal, and music of many genres.

At the age of 6, G was diagnosed with congenital myotonic dystrophy. Though he was quite clearly an incredibly special human, his mother sensed that something was not quite right and had been searching for answers for 4.5 years as to what was behind the collection of developmental and emotional differences she saw. This incurable degenerative neurological disorder affects virtually every organ system in the body, leading to physical and cognitive impairments and often a shorter life expectancy, especially in cases like G, where symptoms begin earlier in life. Quite unexpectedly, all three of G's siblings also tested positive for the disease shortly after.

While some may look at his situation with despair, Giacomo and his family truly embraced it, forever changed, but also with a dedication to fully LIVE while they had the chance. This same commitment to life and making memories came into play a few months before his transition when G's health took a sharp decline in October 2024, cascading him down the same path of digestive failure that his beloved sister and best friend, Gianna, experienced less than two years ago when she transitioned on March 17, 2023.

Having witnessed Gianna’s courageous but painful end of her life and being wise beyond his years, Giacomo decided that he wanted something different. Instead of landing in a hospital bed and enduring inevitable discomfort, he traded the undesirable side effects of high-tech medical interventions for the freedom to choose how he spent his final days. Much like his sister, G is a true warrior, but he opted to end his battle in a different way, in a final heroic effort called, “G’s Last Stand.” (You can find the whole story on the socials, under that name.) However, this historical war tale was not fought on a battlefield. Instead, his mom packed up their ’95 teal conversion van, Fortuna, along with Giacomo, Lukas, Isadora, and Gianna-on-a-stick (the life-size beautiful face memorial that keeps her spirit alive and part of all the family fun) and hit the highway for what became the most epic road trip imaginable. G compiled a list of places he wanted to visit, people he wanted to see, and things he wanted to do. They created countless memories in his final days, visiting over a couple dozen states, many haunted sites and LEGO establishments, helping G spend the rest of his life….LIVING.

Giacomo's health situation took a dramatic turn during an impromptu lunch stop in Sedona, Arizona. Ultimately, he was called to this place of magic, spiritual connection, and transcendent energy, welcomed by an amazing community of people and healers who helped him make the most peaceful, beautiful transition from this earthly world, back to the place of Divine Spirit, where Giacomo clearly comes from.

G is loved by so many, but no one as much as his mother, Elizabeth, and siblings, Lukas and Isadora, who he leaves behind, and his late sister, Gianna, with whom he is undoubtedly flying free now in the afterlife. He shared his heart and love with his entire maternal family, especially his grandparents, Steven and Kathleen, and his chosen family, "Grandmas" Rebeca, Susan, Judith, Marion, and Mary, caregivers Dianne, Dylan, and Bella, and a whole collection of nurses and school staff who provided him with care, support, and love that allowed him to live and thrive in such a full way throughout his life, and especially the last decade or so of his existence, as his disease really reared its ugly head.

Though he probably had no real idea of how incredible he was while here in his earthly state, there is not a single person who Giacomo has not positively impacted, should they be so lucky to know G, even if they've only heard of his story through the grapevine. Giacomo's legacy will live on as his "Force" penetrates the entire galaxy and in the memoir that his mother has already started for him, G entitled "100 Bad Days, 100 Good Stories," in honor of one of his favorite songs and the life that he lived that may not have been easy, but sure was memorable.

These are the words written by his mom (also the author of this memorial) to share the news that G had returned home to his Spirit world, peacefully and without pain...and definitely in his own way.

January 25, 2025

"The reason that there isn’t a word in the English language for a parent who has lost a child is that there are no words to explain the hollowness that is left by having a hole in your heart that is significantly larger than the size of the heart itself, as it takes the shape of your cherished offspring…or in my case….now, as of 2:28 this morning, January 25th, 2025…two gaping cavernous pits—the one first imprinted by my sweet Gianna nearly two years ago on March 17, 2023 and one by her best friend and equally wise, courageous, unique, inspirational, curious, loving, and kind big brother, Giacomo.

As he planned and envisioned for his transition from this earthly existence, in the wee hours of the morning, G strapped on his personal spiritual “jetpack” and headed for the 5th dimension, in his truest form—incredibly rapidly, as the “flight risk” that he has always been, taking off without much warning, save for one final exhale with only me by his side, while his beloved siblings, Lukas and Isadora, grandma, Kathy, and chosen family, Dianne and Dylan all were resting nearby, also surrounded in the love of this community of Sedona which we have very instantly become a part of, and the amazing web of support that has been woven around us.

In the days and weeks prior to today, we had talked a lot about how whenever he was ready, all he needed to do was to tell his powerfully strong body to fully free his Divine Spark spirit and flip that switch from the life he knew here to the infinite wisdom, consciousness, joy, love, light, and bliss waiting for him…And to be sure to take Gianna along for the ride, as she’s definitely been so very, very close, hanging out just on the other side of the veil, patiently waiting for him whenever he was ready…

And so it happened…just as it was supposed to, perfectly in sync with the lyrics to the song playing at the time of his transition, a cover of the Van Morrison classic, “Days Like This”….

“When it's not always raining, there'll be days like this

When there's no one complaining, there'll be days like this

When everything falls into place like the flick of a switch

Well, my mama told me there'll be days like this”

And now this mama and her two littlest ones will rest, in the hammock of love from so many, near and far, from this world to the very distant one where two very bright lights are twinkling together, once again."
