Friends and family will gather on April 9, 2018 to say farewell to a loving son, father, brother and friend, Greg Bettinger, who passed away peacefully here in in Santa Cruz with his family at his bedside. He died on Friday, March 30 2018, following a brave battle that he fought with cancer. Born in Roosevelt, Utah, he was 49 years old.
Greg was raised in Southern California and graduated from Chatsworth High School in the San Fernando Valley 1987. He was an accomplished track star there as a long distance runner; setting school track and field records. He was a graduate of MIT 1991, Phi Beta Kappa, with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He moved to Santa Cruz area in 2003, and continued to work in the field of computer engineering and web development with Launch Brigade in Santa Cruz.
He is survived by his daughter Sara Bettinger of Boston; his mother, Blanche Bettinger of Sedona, AZ, his father, John Bettinger and wife Joan Bettinger of Santa Monica, his brother Jay Bettinger of Rossmoor California and Brian Bettinger and wife Marie of New Jersey. Greg is also survived by two nieces Alexa and Olivia of Rossmoor, CA and a nephew Liam of New Jersey and many other very supportive and loving relatives and friends.
A ceremony to wish Greg a fond farewell will be held at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel in Santa Cruz beginning at 11 a.m. He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Sedona Community Cemetery in Sedona, Arizona.
