Herbert J. Adair, Jr. was born in Washington, D.C. October 20, 1927. His early years were on a farm in Maryland and graduated from St. Albans School in Washington prior to enlisting in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947. Following his military service, Mr. Adair attended Temple University for one year and with a partner leased a ranch in Sheridan, Wyoming and raised beef cattle for seven to eight years. Following, Mr. Adair returned East and was employed by American Meter Company four years and left to join a partly-owned family business, Kent-Moore Corporation, a well-known company in the automotive industry. He was sent to Europe in 1959 to form Kent-Moore International, based in Switzerland, and build the company's business in Europe and the Middle East, which has been very successful. After 17 years overseas Mr. Adair took early retirement and returned to Wyoming, where he lived until March 1993 when he settled in Sedona.
Mr. Adair is survived by his wife of many years, Ildiko, and two sons - Herbert III, residing also in Sedona, and David who lives in Switzerland.
Mr. Adair was a member of the Sheridan, Wyoming Elks Lodge for many years, as well as the Sedona Lodge for a short time. He is also a member of the American Legion. His former hobbies / interests were hunting, fishing, motorhome travel, gardening, and swimming. He deeply loved his wife and sons, and was blessed with a number of very real friends over the years.
