James Walter McInnis was born in Toledo, Ohio on June 5, 1932. Jim led a happy loving childhood as the youngest of five boys followed 12 years later by his sister.
James passed away peacefully in Sedona, Arizona surrounded by family on April 30, 2022. He was 89 years old. Jim is survived by his wife Kristine and five children: Kristin Muise, James (Damien) McInnis, Kathryn Eubank, Patrick McInnis and Brennan Schmittendorf. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Jim served in the United States Army as Staff Sargent during the Korean War. After his return from Korea Jim married his first wife and they adopted three children. In 1957 Jim formed T&J Electric Company with his brother Tom. In 1969, driven by an unstoppable work ethic and desire to provide for his family, Jim began developing and building apartment communities as well as commercial and industrial office and warehouse spaces in Toledo and southern Michigan.
After discovering what he described as “heaven on earth” Jim and family moved to Sedona in 1986. This move was not retirement for Jim. Instead it provided him new opportunities. He and Kristine raised two children in Sedona and Jim continued to develop and build in Sedona, the Village of Oak Creek, Cottonwood and the Verde Valley. His family and associates continue that work.
A celebration of life will be held at 10am on June 4, 2022 at the Church of the Red Rocks located at 54 Bowstring Drive, Sedona, AZ 86336. All are welcome.
If you wish to further honor Jim, his family would appreciate a contribution of any amount made to The Church of the Red Rocks, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, (tunnel2towers.org), the Sedona Humane Society or any other charity of choice.
