Janet Audrey Egan

August 15, 1930 — March 1, 2020

Janet Audrey Egan was born in Chicago on August 15, 1930 and passed away on March 1, 2020, at home, in Sedona, with her children by her side.

Jan moved to Sedona with her husband, Jack, in 1985. She was employed by the Sedona Elks Lodge for 27 years and retired in 2012. Jack preceded her in death in 1990.

She is survived by her two children, Patrick and Kathleen. She has four grandchildren - Sarah, Dominique, Jesse and Lucas and 7 great grandchildren - Isabelle, Cassidy, Hunter, Trinity, Auguste, Jonah and Nieve.

Jan was known as a great hostess and loved to entertain family and friends. We called her "the Queen" and she will be missed by all who knew her.

Family and Friends are invited to join in a Celebration of Life for Janet on August 15, 2020 (Postponed due to Coronavirus). It will be held at the Living Springs Camp at the Rainbow Trout Farm from  1 - 4 pm. The address is 3500 N State Route 89A in Oak Creek Canyon. For more information, please call Pat at 928-274-2556 or Greer's Mortuary of Sedona at (928)282-3253.

It would not be complete if we didn't thank the Northern Arizona Hospice for their care, love and support of Janet during her illness. Eddie, Grace, Chris, Gwen, Stacy, Claudia, Ashley, Shanda, Brent, Sue and all of you who were behind the magic curtain, we cannot say enough about how wonderful you all are. We are grateful from the bottom of our hearts. And Ron Cash was our angel through it all.

"I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her Grand, Light Sails to the morning air and leans to the Great Sea. She is an object of deep beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until the sea measures her no more, until she floats like a cloud on the horizon, where sea and sky are one.

There, she is gone.

"Gone?" I say ... Gone from my sight, that is all. She is just as large in Mast and Spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear her load to her destined port. Her diminished size is in me, not in her.  And as she disappears from my sight, there are other eyes beckoning her with joyful voices hailed in great song, singing... "Here SHE comes!"...... And that is Heaven."     (Author Unknown)
