It is with heavy hearts that the family of Janice Lee Cordner announce her passing on May 29, 2020 in Cottonwood, Arizona.
An accomplished artist with a focus on digital and graphic design, through her firm, Sedona Design Studio, Janice designed some of the most interesting websites for local businesses including Northern Arizona University, Arizona Stronghold Vineyards, Page Spring Cellars, Sedona Airport and the Sedona Trolley.
A creative and talented jewelry maker, Janice had an eye for combining materials and styles in a totally original way. Her Etsy store, Shop Chickpea Studio, was one of the most well-regarded sites on the Etsy platform.
A trained chef and entrepreneur, Get Carried Away, Janice's restaurant in Hillsdale, New Jersey was an early pioneer in take-home prepared meals and ethnic specialties.
Anything that Janice set her active mind to, she made her own. Ever curous, never satisfied with the status quo, Janice never lost childhood's sense of wonder. While her accomplishments were many, family and friends will remember her as the most puzzle-solving, mischief-causing, game-playing, hardworking, focused-listening, explosive laughter-creating, creativity-igniting person any of us will ever know. Though she had many tools at her disposal, Janice could thrive on just two - a never-ending smile and a razor-sharp mind.
Born April 8, 1963 in Hackensack, NJ, the youngest of five children to Dr. Harold J. and Mrs. Pauline Cordner. Janice grew up in Bergen County, New Jersey. She attended Immaculate Heart Academy and graduated with a BS in Culinary and Restaurant Management from Johnson and Wales College in Providence, Rhode Island.
Janice was the beloved wife of Aaron Clark of Sedona, Arizona. She was a cherished niece to Marie Cordner and a very beloved sister to Kathleen Carlson, Donna Cordner, Harold Cordner and Lisa Cordner and their spouses Rich Carlson, Brent Groce and Lianne Cordner. She was a much loved aunt to Richie Carlson, Matthew Carlson, Katie Mollusky, Nikki Ferrante and Gregory Mollusky and Alanna, Christopher and Ryan Cordner.
Janice was the sparkle in our lives, a creative force beyond compare, a fun-loving genius and the most generous and loving individual. All those whose lives she touched are grateful and feel blessed for having shared even a short leg of her life's journey.
In honor of Janice's generous spirit, we encourage family and friends to make a donation to a favorite charity in her memory.
