Jon G. Orr, aged 80, passed away peacefully at home on June 29, 2024, after several months of declining health.
Jon was a veteran, having served three years in the U.S. Army. during that time, he married his first wife, Gloria, and they had two sons and a daughter together.
After leaving the Army, Jon held a variety of jobs. He liked truck driving the best and drove all sorts of tractor-trailers, buses, and other types of transport for many companies over the years. He also had his own trucking company for several years.
A decade after his first marriage ended, Jon met Lynn at a deli. They hit it off immediately, becoming inseparable and marrying several years later, at which time he gained two step-sons. Jon and Lynn enjoyed many of the same things over their more than 40 years together, including boating on the Great Lakes and traveling in their RV around the country and parts of Canada and Mexico, always accompanied by a lovable fur-baby. Jon loved bowling (he excelled at it) and golf (not so excellent). After moving with Lynn to the Sedona area, he really enjoyed weekly happy hour with their close friends, computer games, watching TV with his lovable golden retriever at his side, and especially hosting Orr's Annual Super Bowl Party, where everyone always had a blast.
Jon was a big man both in stature and personality. As a friend aptly put it, 'he was a force of Nature.' He could appear tough, but was gentle and caring inside. And he was fun!
Jon was predeceased by his parents, his first wife, and his sons Jon Jr. and Steven. He is survived by his loving wife Lynn, his caring daughter Jona, his step-sons Jimmy and Mike, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and his fur-baby Tucker. No services were held. According to his wishes, his ashes will be scattered across the waters he so loved. Our beloved Jon, you will always live large in our hearts.
