Joy worked as a salesperson for Wayne B. Light jewelry store in Sedona and was an active member of the Elks for many years; having served as editor of the monthly newsletter which won seven first place awards during this time and as president of the ladies auxiliary. She also volunteered for several of the Thanksgiving dinners sponsored by the Elks Lodge in Sedona.

She is survived by husband Glenn Smith of Sedona; sons Douglas Smith of Sedona and Scott Smith of Roseville California; grandsons Blake Smith of Chandler Arizona and Jared Smith of Midway Georgia; and granddaughter Monique Seward of Fort Collins Colorado.

At her request, there will be no services held.
