June Akins Van Valkenburg, born on June 14, 1945 in Elizabeth, New Jersey passed peacefully at her home in Sedona, Arizona on July 25, 2018. Present when she passed was her husband of 35 years, Steven B. Van Valkenburg. In her last few days she was visited by a number of loving friends and was in the care of Maggies Hospice. She grew up in Northern Florida where she graduated from Winter Park High School. She attained an Associate of Arts Degree from Golden West Community College, in Huntington Beach, CA., where she earned a Major in Fine Arts with a Minor in Graphic Design. She then worked in the field of publishing as an Associate Art Director with CBS Publishing. June later became a Certified Law of Attraction Life Coach with Quantum Success Coaching Academy and this led to her helping people, conducting seminars and workshops and publishing a book Feeling My Way, Finding Purpose. She was also dedicated to serving in the Toastmasters Organization for over 22 years where she became a Distinguished Toastmaster twice over, an Area Governor and Club Coach Chair for Toastmasters District 3 (serving all Arizona clubs) for which she was awarded the District 3 Outstanding Chairman of the Year for 2006-2007. June loved producing watercolors, publishing articles and her book, speaking and conducting workshops. June was very spiritual and she had a healing touch and her unusually intuitive wisdom was a blessing for many fortunate recipients.
June was predeceased by her mother, Margaret F. Rector and her father, Wallace N. Akins. She is survived by her husband Steve and her beloved tuxedo kitty Sylvia.
