Louise Virginia (Herrick) Boyd

Boyd, Louise Virginia (Herrick)
64, of Cornville, Arizona, passed away on October 2, 2011 after a valiant battle with cancer. Louise was born on August 21, 1947 in Worcester, MA, and was raised in Barre, MA, where she graduated from high school in 1965. Louise earned an Associate Degree in Retail from Becker Junior College in Worcester, MA in 1967. After migrating to Arizona in 2002, Louise worked for the Arizona Secretary of State as a Program and Project Specialist for Library and Archives - Records Management Division, where most recently she served as Facilities Coordinator for the new state archives building. Louise is survived by Rob Groninger of Cornville, AZ, her partner, pal and almost-husband; GladysAnn Wells, formerly of Cave Creek, AZ now living in Concord, NC, her life-long friend, as well as her many friends and colleagues at work and her New England cousins. Louise's favorite past-times were hiking the beautiful areas of northern Arizona and target shooting, often describing these activities as "time well wasted". But her life-long passions were riding, training and caring for horses; particularly from 1953 - 1967 when she delivered innumerable first places performances in New England and Massachusetts championships, including first place in 1965 in the prestigious National Morgan Horseshow then held in Northampton, MA. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, November 4, 2011 at Greer's Mortuary, located at 2725 W Highway 89A, Sedona, AZ 86336, 928-282-3253; which will be immediately followed by a Celebration of Life at her home in Cornville. Friends, relatives and acquaintances desiring to attend the Celebration of Life should provide contact information as soon as possible by calling 928-310-8032 or by email to [email protected] In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.
