Margaret Foster Vanderlippe

January 4, 1935 — May 30, 2014

Margaret Vanderlippe, lifelong teacher, music aficionado, ardent skier, and avid traveler lost her battle with leukemia on May 30. 2014. Born in London, England on 1/4/1935, Margie immigrated to America at the tender age of 2. After growing up in the Chicago area Margie entered Oberlin College where she graduated with both a degree and husband in 1956. The new couple moved to MA where Margi began her teaching career, and when children of her own interrupted she took the opportunity to open her own pre-school. After her children left the nest she obtained her PHD and spent the next 18 years working with special needs children. Margi may have officially retired from teaching but she continued to work towards educating the world by volunteering at the Sedona, AZ literacy center. When she wasnt teaching others she was expanding her own knowledge by taking trips throughout the world as well as extensive travel throughout the western US in her Pleasure Way RV. As a devout Cradle Episcopalian with a love of music Margie has been a choir member for most of her life and she was also active in private chorale groups including a long relationship with the Canyon Singers as well as the Verde Valley Voices. She leaves behind a sister, Betty Heim, 2 sons: Richard and John, a daughter-in-law Sandy who became far more family than in-law, as well as too many friends to count, all of whom will miss her dearly. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sedona Literacy Center or St. Andrews Church.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 @ 11:00AM at St. Andrews Episcopal Church.
