Mary Esther Willemssen

Mary Willemssen, age 69 of Cottonwood, AZ died Monday, October 13, 2014 at Cottonwood Village in Cottonwood, AZ.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM on October 30th at Greer's Mortuary in Sedona, AZ with Chaplain Joel Boyd officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Hospice Compassus, 70 Bell Rock Plaza, Suite A, Sedona, AZ 86351.

Mary Esther Freerksen was born March 16, 1945 in Hull, IA, the daughter of George and Cleo (Gould) Freerksen, the sixth of seven children.

She was united in marriage to Curtis Willemssen on May 22, 1961 at her grandparents' home in Sibley, IA. The couple then moved to Riverside, CA and lived in various cities in Southern California for 39 years until moving to Sierra Vista, AZ in 2000 and then to Cottonwood, AZ in 2009.

Mary is survived by her husband of 53 years, Curt, two children, Lisa (Bill) Ruggles of Tucson, AZ, Mike (Tiana) Willemssen of Thornton, CO and three grandchildren, Scott, Daniel and Katelyn, She is also survived by two sisters, Earlene Sproat of Cottonwood, AZ, Leah (Chuck) Alderson of Cottonwood, AZ and one brother, Harry Freerksen of Prescott Valley, AZ.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Cleo Freerksen (Becker); a sister, Verna Klinkenborg; and two brothers, George and Ray Freerksen.
