Max Irvin Pemberton

Max Irvin Pemberton of Sedona, Arizona, passed away peacefully in the Kachina Rehabilitation Hospital on Thursday February 15th at the age of 98.
Max was born in Roda, West Virginia on March 7th, 1919. He was a resident of Middletown, Ohio for more than 40 years. He was employed by the Cincinnati Gas and Electric Company as a regional supervisor at the Todhunter Road substation in Monroe, Ohio. He retired after 44 years of service spanning from 1939 to 1983. Max then moved to Sedona in 1987.
He was a Master Mason 3rd degree at the Central Arizona Lodge No.14 in Sedona, Arizona, and at the High Point Lodge No. 0773 in Monroe, Ohio. Max was also an active member of the Methodist Church his entire life.
Max was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed singing in the church choir, oil painting, photography. He practically invented the road trip and loved to travel. Visiting with his family was always something he looked forward to and made him very happy.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Myrtle (Miller) Pemberton; wife Eula Julie (Pennington) Pemberton; three brothers George, Henry, and Gene Pemberton; brother-in-law Bill Wronz; two nieces Marie Pemberton and Laura Pemberton.
Max is survived by his loving wife Ada Mae (Rice) Pemberton of 29 years. They were married in Sedona on June 26th, 1988.
He is lovingly remembered by his son and daughter-in-law Max Steven and Linda Pemberton; two granddaughters Cynthia Pemberton and Kandice (Pemberton) Denry; two great grandchildren Samuel Pemberton and Aaron Denry; sisters-in-laws Freda (Rice) Wronz, Lucille (Rice) Owen, and Rose (Rice) Federwisch; nephews Jimmy Pemberton, Doug Pemberton, Bruce Pemberton, Gary Pemberton, George Pemberton and Brett Wronz; niece Marilynn (Pemberton) Verbeck; Rise (Wronz) Cornelio and her husband Al Cornelio; great nieces Caitlin and Morgan Pemberton; and great nephew Tyler Wronz. As well as numerous great nieces and nephews and other loving family members.
The funeral service to celebrate his remarkable life will be held at the Sedona United Methodist Church on Tuesday February 27th at 1pm. Interment will be a private family service.
