Raymond Eugene 'Gene' Shultz

Raymond "Gene" Shultz passed away peacefully at his home, May 10, 2009 at the age of 80, after a long illness.

Gene was born in Iola, Kansas to Lee Shultz and Olive Brewer Shultz August 20, 1928.

At the age of 8 Gene and his family left Kansas and moved to San Fernando, California. He worked for GTE for 35 years.

Moving to Sedona, he became very active in the civic affairs of the city, helping to incorporate the city being active in the Rotary Club and helping form the Business Association. He and his wife owned and operated two upscale jewelry stores in Sedona, at the time of his death still operating the Turquoise Buffalo, being very active in the store until his illness in 2007.

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his son David. He is survived by his loving wife Geri, two sons Randel and his wife Jan of Carlsbad, California; and Raymond and his wife Yvonne of Whittier, California; sister Meriam and Don Laird of Camarillo, California; grandchildren Christine, Kevin, Ryan, and Elizabeth Shultz of Whittier, California; Brianne and Cory Ives of Camarillo, California; stepson Richard and Julie Irwin of Littleton, Colorado.

There will be no services. A private "Celebration of Life" will be held on Thursday May 28 at his home.

Memorial donations in Gene's name may be given to the Sedona Humane Society, 2115 Shelby Drive, 282-4679.
