Robert Switzgable was born July 18, 1914 in Lansing, Michigan. He graduated from Saint Mary's High School in Lansing, Michigan. He married Janet Cheshire in 1941. They made their home in Chicago, Illinois. He served in the Army First Division, 26th Infantry in Europe in World War II, where he received the Purple Heart. On his return, he was a postal carrier with the United States Postal Service in Chicago from 1945 to 1976. He retired to Arizona. He lived in Prescott for 13 years, and in Sedona for 20 years.
Robert will be interred with Janet in the family plot at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lansing, Michigan. A mass for the repose of his soul will be offered at 8:00AM on December 6, 2009 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Sedona. A mass in memory of both Janet and Robert will be offered there December 21.
