Robert S. Carabell
March 3, 1938 - February 8, 2013
"Bob" Carabell was born in Akron, Ohio; graduated from Western Reserve Academy; earned a BA in Psychology from Cornell University and a JD from the University of Akron School of Law.
Bob practiced law in Akron for many years with
the Brouse and McDowell law firm and became a partner. In 1981 he joined TRW as Senior Labor Counsel until his retirement from TRW in 1998. For over 20 years prior to 1998 Bob was also an Adjunct Professor of Labor, Employment and Collective Bargaining law at his law school alma mater where he received the Outstanding Adjunct Professor Award. He also served on the American Arbitration Association Panel for Employment Disputes.
Upon retirement Bob moved to the Village / Big Park area of Sedona. Bob was an avid bicyclist, skier, amateur astronomer, and classical music enthusiast. Bob gave freely of his time and intellect as Trustee and President of Chamber Music Sedona; Trustee, Vice President and Chair of the Dark Skies Committee of Keep Sedona Beautiful; and Chairman of the All American Road Committee. Bob was a strong advocate of preserving the Dark Skies in the Greater Sedona Area as a member of the International Dark Sky Association and chair of the committee that helped the City of Sedona and Yavapai County implement Light Pollution Control Ordinances.
Bob is survived by his companion of many years Susan Amon; his sister Nancy; his children Chris, Marcia, Katherine; and grandchildren Jack, Maggie, and George.
