Stan passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 after a short battle with cancer. He was born on March 10, 1949 at the former Marcus J. Lawrence Hospital in Cottonwood, Arizona, now named Verde Valley Medical Center, to Clifford and Margie Earl of Sedona. Stan was a 1967 graduate of Mingus Union High School when it was located on the hill in Jerome. Stan worked in construction with several contractors in Sedona and Flagstaff including his dad, uncle, and Lee Pedrick before starting his own business, Earl Excavating in Sedona in 1988. He retired in 2019 and still gets calls for his business to this day. He met his wife, Linda (Melton), in Sedona in November of 1972 and they were married in April of 1973. They celebrated their 51st anniversary in April of this year. They have 4 children, Michael (Sheri) Earl, Steven Earl, Jennifer (Louis) Newell, and Janelle (Jeremiah) Light, 14 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Stan was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, and his sister, Linda. Stan served on the board of Sedona Community Cemetery for 25 years and oversaw many changes and improvements. His love for the Lord has been an inspiration and comfort to his family and friends. We will all miss him tremendously.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2024 at 9:00a.m. at Greer's Mortuary of Sedona, 2725 W. Highway 89A. Burial to follow at Sedona Community Cemetery at 11:00a.m., 129 Pine Drive, Sedona, AZ.
