Susan (“Sue”) spent the years after her own schooling pursuing the teaching and guiding of other professionals in education and additional public-serving occupations. She first taught grade-school students for 13 years, and then took her place as a grade-school principal for another 8 years, in Bristol, Pennsylvania. She then moved on to Sedona, Arizona, where she re-commenced her career as a public grade-school principal at the West Sedona Grade School, where she enjoyed a second 21-year challenge. After her second “retirement” from public service, she put in another three-year stint as the inaugural principal of the Desert Star School, a newly-founded charter grade-school in Cornville, Arizona, just south of Sedona. Upon her “third retirement” as a teacher and principal, she embarked on a “fourth phase” or her teaching career, as a coach and teacher of other teachers and public servants, providing them with the tools to successfully interact with each other, and the publics they served. In the context of this latest career, Sue produced and published a series of books on topics appealing to a breadth of audiences from young children to seasoned professionals. She left behind an extensive family which stretched far beyond her blood relatives.
Sue passed on to a higher plane at the age of 75, with friends and family supporting her in her journey, upon which she willingly embarked at peace and in good spirit. She was born on January 25, 1949, to parents Ralph and Marjorie (Bassett) Simon.
Sue grew up in Vincennes, Indiana, a town on the shores of the Wabash River. Her undergraduate collegiate education was at St. Mary’s at Notre Dame, Indiana where she secured her bachelor’s degree, after which she secured an M.A. in Special Education, and an M.Ed. In Education Administration.
Sue is survived by her older brother Denny (and wife Ronnie) Simon, younger sister Shari Simon, and her niece Daria (and husband Mark Thomas) and nephew J Simon. She was preceded in her passing by parents Ralph and Marge.
