Thelma Kinslow Finley, 84, longtime Sedona resident, passed peacefully at her home on September 19.
Born in Kendrick, Oklahoma on August 1, 1925 to Albert Warren Kinslow and Bertha Kinslow, Thelma married Ivan in 1945 and enjoyed a 61-year marriage and many years in California. They moved to Sedona in 1979. Thelma had worked in banking, and in retirement was active in Sedona Women's Republican Club. She was an avid reader. Afflicted with Alzheimers, she carried on with strength and dignity. She will be remembered for her graciousness and charm, good Mom attitude, defender of women's rights, and an intuition to quickly take stock of people and situations.
She was preceded in death by her husband, former Sedona mayor Ivan F. Finley. She is survived by daughters, Elizabeth (Gerald) Ernst of Lodi, California and Victoria Finley Williams of Santee, California; and son, Terrence (Jami) Finley of Queen Creek, Arizona. Grandchildren are Katie, Ryan, Ian Finley; Trent, Cole and Lincoln Williams; and Mark and Brian Ernst. Great grandchildren are Elyssa Williams and Nathalie, Daia and Max Ernst.
